Boss Encounter

Maeroth

The Conductor

Maeroth holds the arena in a frenzied grip through three Corruption Anchors. This guide preserves the discovery first, then progressively reveals the mechanic, complete solution, and expected playtest behavior.

Spoiler-controlled guide Nothing beyond the overview is revealed unless you open it.

Spoiler-free overview

What is the encounter asking?

The Conductor dominates the battlefield through three Corruption Anchors. Each anchor is tied to a different form of pressure, and the arena becomes increasingly dangerous while the boss remains in control.

Gather orb energy, survive the boss’s shifting attacks, and discover how the anchors can be used to create an opening.

Progressive reveal

Hints and full mechanic

Hint OneWhat should I watch?

Watch how the boss interacts with the three anchors before expecting the player to act. The movement is communicating something important.

Hint TwoWhat are the orbs for?

Orb energy can be delivered to the Corruption Anchors. Activating an anchor is not only about choosing a color—it is also about choosing the right moment.

Strong HintDoes the boss’s path matter?

Yes. The path between the anchors is the key piece of information. The player must respond to that path rather than activate anchors randomly.

Full SpoilerReveal the complete encounter mechanic

The Conductor moves between the three Corruption Anchors in a sequence. The player must reproduce that sequence by delivering orb energy to the anchors in the same order.

Correct cleanses push back the shrinking safe area and move the encounter toward a vulnerability phase. Completing enough of the sequence opens a temporary window in which the boss can be damaged.

A failed sequence should reset the pattern rather than permanently lock the encounter. The player then receives a new opportunity to observe and respond.

Anchor behavior

What each phase contributes

Optional SpoilerReveal Blue Anchor behavior

The Blue phase creates crystal pillars with ground anticipation. The boss charges through the arena and can destroy those pillars leaving behind energy orbs. You want to bait Maeroth to destroy as many crystals as possible.

Optional SpoilerReveal Red Anchor behavior

The Red phase creates a shock wave which shakes the entire cavern and creates falling hazards and knocks loose an energy orb. Missing the important orb causes it to shatter.

Optional SpoilerReveal Purple Anchor behavior

The Purple phase summons corrupted enemies. Defeating them supplies the orb energy needed to interact with the anchors.

Playtest verification

Expected behavior

Pattern presentation

The boss should travel between anchors in a readable order before the player is expected to reproduce it.

Orb delivery

Delivering energy to an anchor should clearly communicate whether the input was accepted or rejected.

Correct sequence

Correct anchor activations should progress the mechanic and help stabilize or expand the playable area.

Incorrect sequence

A wrong activation should communicate failure and reset or replace the pattern without permanently breaking the encounter.

Vulnerability phase

Completing the required sequence should clearly remove invulnerability and create a readable damage window.

The Crucible

The safe area should shrink over time, while successful cleansing should push back that pressure as intended.

Possible bug indicators

Report the encounter when…

  • The boss does not visibly communicate an anchor path.
  • An orb reaches an anchor but no success or failure feedback occurs.
  • A correct sequence does not progress the encounter.
  • An incorrect sequence permanently locks all anchors.
  • The vulnerability phase never begins after the required cleanses.
  • The boss remains damageable outside the intended vulnerability window.
  • The safe area shrinks without responding to successful anchor cleansing.
  • A reset produces no new pattern or leaves the fight impossible to complete.
