Spoiler-free overview
What is the encounter asking?
Thornax attacks from beyond the player’s plane while the fight unfolds across a vulnerable rampart. The encounter combines environmental pressure, survival mechanics, and three ancient weapons that influence the boss in different ways.
Gather the energy needed to activate those weapons while surviving Thornax’s attacks and preserving enough of the arena to continue the fight.

Hints and full mechanic
Hint One How do I charge the ancient weapons?
Defeat enemies while they are standing on a weapon’s plate. Their released energy will transfer into that weapon and begin charging it.
Hint TwoWhat should I pay attention to?
Each ancient weapon changes Thornax’s current state. Watch the boss, its defenses, and any status feedback immediately after a weapon is fired.
Hint ThreeDoes the order matter?
Yes. The encounter remains completable after inefficient choices, but the correct order greatly reduces the number of weapon activations required.
Strong HintWhat role does each weapon play?
- Blue interacts with Thornax’s protection.
- Red creates a damage-over-time and vulnerable state.
- Purple delivers direct damage but changes the defensive state afterward.
Full SpoilerReveal the complete encounter solution
The optimal sequence is:
Blue removes Thornax’s shield. Red applies damage over time and opens the vulnerable state. You HAVE TO WAIT for the vulnerable state to maximize damage. Purple then delivers direct damage before causing the shield to return.
Repeating that sequence is the most efficient way to complete the fight. A poor order does not immediately fail the encounter, but it can require substantially more activations.
Playtest verification
Expected behavior
Weapon charging
Encounter energy should visibly increase each weapon’s charge state until it is ready to fire.
Blue weapon
A successful activation should visibly remove or break Thornax’s shield state.
Red weapon
Thornax should receive the intended damage-over-time effect and become vulnerable.
Purple weapon
Thornax should take direct damage, after which its protection should return as designed.
Incorrect order
The fight should remain recoverable, though the inefficient sequence may require many more activations.
Arena pressure
Thornax’s attacks should continue to threaten the player and gradually reduce the safety of the rampart.
Possible bug indicators
